This outstanding 2017 1 oz South Korea Silver Chiwoo Cheonwang NGC MS 69 Early Releases is the second issue from the South Korean Mint (KOMSCO) showcasing the iconic figure of Chiwoo Cheonwang - the God of War.
Being a well-known symbol in the South Korean history and culture, Chiwoo Cheonwang was the 14th leader of ancient Baedal, regarded as the God of War in the ancient Asian mythology. He is famous for wearing his intimidating devil-like mask and pictured as casting magical spells which convey fear to enemies seeking war against the Korean Nation. The mask also served as the Red Devils’ mascot during the 2002 World Cup - the club of the passionate supporters of the national soccer team.
This astounding medal is the 2nd issue in the Chiwoo Cheonwang silver series from KOMSCO. The medal obverse displays the powerful figure of the God of War, engraved in its full armor, with his shield and spear, and his mask donned, but this time displayed as mounted on a fearsome horse. This superb medal also bears a special anti-counterfeit feature - “Ag”-“999” signs - which shows up differently when viewed from distinct angles.
