2016 10 Kilo Silver Lunar Year of The Monkey BU Australian Perth Mint In Capsule

The Chinese Lunar Calendar’s inception can be traced as far back as the 14th century BCE. Today, the Chinese Lunar Calendar is still recognized among numerous Chinese communities around the world! The world-renowned Perth Mint first presented this popular series in 1996, and it continues to gain popularity with bullion aficionados.

Perth Mint’s 2016 Australia 10 kilo Silver Lunar Monkey BU (In Capsule) pays homage to the Chinese Lunar Calendar featuring the magnificent monkey! The Monkey is the ninth symbol in the Chinese Zodiac, with the number nine representing ambition, action, smartness, adventure, and mischief much like personality traits of the monkey itself. The interest in Chinese Lunar Year Coins amongst investors and collectors alike is insatiable in part because of the yearly design changes, and because of the limited mintages.

The 2016 Australia 10 kilo Silver Lunar Monkey BU (In Capsule) Coin is available today from Bullion Exchanges in Brilliant Uncirculated Condition. This impressive silver coin is composed of 321.5 troy ounces of .999 fine silver offering the beloved Monkey design in greater detail.  Each coin has been issued a face value of $300.00 (AUD) backed by the Australian government and deemed legal tender as a result of the Currency Act of 1965.

The traditional Chinese Lunar Calendar is based on 24 seasonal segments with each year associated to a particular animal in a 12- year cycle. Twelve animals are used to symbolize the year of a person’s birth: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. Also known as a person’s Shengxiao – sheng means the year of birth, while Xiao means resemblance. Those conceived in the year of the monkey include people born in 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028, and 2040.

Featured on the reverse side of the 2016 Australia 10 kilo Silver Lunar Monkey BU (In Capsule) Coin is an adult monkey and one child monkey perched on a peach tree branch. Both monkeys are firmly grasping the branch, while the younger monkey holds a peach in its palm. The character for Monkey is inscribed, along with “Year of the Monkey”, and Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark.

The obverse side depicts the Ian-Rank Broadley’s portrait of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, with “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA”, 10 KG 999 SILVER” “2016”, and “300 DOLLARS” engraved along the rim of the coin.
