2015 5 oz Silver America the Beautiful ATB Nebraska Homestead National Historical Park Coin

Bullion Exchanges is pleased to carry the 2015 5 oz ATB Silver Homestead National Park which is the first of 2015 and the 26th overall in the "America the Beautiful Quarters®" Program.

This beautifully designed Silver ATB National Park Coin is composed of 5 oz. of .999 fine silver and pays tribute to the first successfully claimed land from 1862.

The Homestead National Monument commemorates the passage of the Homestead Act of 1862, which allowed any qualified person to claim up to 160 acres of federally owned land in exchange for five years of residence and the cultivation and improvement of the property. The act transferred acres of land from public to private ownership, ultimately due to technological advances in the cultivation of land the act was repealed in 1976.

The obverse bears a portrait of George Washington, with the inscriptions of "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the denomination.

The reverse features elements that were necessary to the survival of homesteaders including, food, shelter, and water. Surrounding these elements are the inscriptions, Homestead, Nebraska, and the date around the rim of the coin. This coin is a great reminder of a significant time in US history, and a great addition to any collection.
