Detailed Information:
Mexican Silver Libertads are well known for their detailed and mesmerizing designs. They are minted at one of the oldest North American Mints, the National Mint of Mexico or Casa de Moneda de Mexico. This mint was established in 1535 by the Spaniards and is an IRA approved facility. Hence the coins that are minted in this facility have to maintain highest of the standards. The Silver Libertads were fist minted in 1982. The coins has undergone some design changes in the past since its production in 1982. In the beginning the design used on the reverse had drawn inspiration from the gold Centenario coin which had the forward facing image of Winged Victory.
The current day design has more details than the previous design. The reverse of the 2014 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad NGC MS 69 coin features an image of Angel de Libertad or Angel of Independence which pays a tribute to the large 24 karat gold covered 7 ton heavy bronze statue that is placed in the downtown Mexico City. The image on the coin shows a bare breasted Angel de Libertad placed on a special column balancing on single foot with her wings outstretched as if she is about the fly. On the background lies the splendorous landscape of Valley of Mexico including the famous Mexican volcanoes Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. These two volcanoes symbolize the famous lovers of Mexico, a warrior and his princess who were separated by death. Engravings include the weight, purity, metal content, and year of mintage.
The obverse of 2014 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad NGC MS 69 coin features the current National Coat of Arms of Mexico which is an eagle perched atop a cactus holding a serpent in his beak and talons in the center. Surrounding this are ten National Coats of Arms of Mexico which were used throughout history and also represent ten provinces of Mexico. Around the center design is the encircled inscription of "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS."
The Mexican Silver Libertad comes with a great combination of collectible and investment appeal.
