2014 1 oz Canadian Gold Howling Wolf - Call of the Wild $200 .99999 Fine Gold (In Assay)

In 2014, the prestigious Royal Canadian Mint began issuing its coveted Call of the Wild series. The Howling Wolf would become their first release. Struck in .99999 pure gold, the highest quality in the industry, this beautiful coin celebrates Canada’s natural heritage and history, and is one of the most sought-after coins on the bullion market.

Being feared and hunted in most rural communities because of its attacks on livestock, while simultaneously being respected and revered in other cultures due to its beauty, ferocity, and cunning, the wolf has a long and storied history with humans. Wolf attacks on humans are extremely rare. However, this fact does not lessen the mythical imagery that wolves conjure in the heart and mind. From Trina Schart Hyman’s “Little Red Riding Hood”, to the famous 1981 film, “American Werewolf in London”, wolves will always be a part of our dreams, nightmares, and mythology. Now they can also be a part of our coin and precious metals portfolio.

The $200 denomination of the coin features one of the highest face values from the Royal Canadian Mint and also features its highest gold purity level of any gold coin it produces. These factors weigh heavily on investors and collectors which reinforces this coin’s rarity and demand.

Coin Features:

  • Made from 99.999% pure gold, with a weight of 1 troy ounce
  • Legal Canadian tender $200 (CAN)
  • Individual coins come in Assay packaging signed by the RCM Chief Assayer
  • Includes a micro-engraved maple leaf laser mark that shows the year of mintage when under magnification
  • Obverse: Image of Queen Elizabeth II, along with the $200 face value (CAD) by artist Susanna Blunt
  • Reverse: Displays a beautifully detailed image of the Howling Wolf, inscribed with the weight and purity of the coin by artist Pierre Leduc
