In 2012, the Royal Canadian Mint released this beautiful coin to commemorate the bicentennial of a pivotal moment in Canadian, British, and American history - the War of 1812. This war also is known as the Second War of Independence, was fought between the newly formed United States and the United Kingdom across the American-Canadian border.

This significant coin has a face value of $10, a weight of ¼ troy oz., and is made of .9999 fine gold. 

The coin obverse shows a depiction of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, created by artist Susanna Blunt and has been used on Canadian coins for quite some time. The coin reverse depicts the symbols of the War of 1812. The eagle, representing American forces, stands powerfully as opposed to the lion, who symbolizes the British forces.
