Each obverse features John Mercanti‘s design of the Statue of Liberty gazing confidently forward, a symbol of freedom and opportunity, wearing a seven-point crown with her right arm rising above her. Inscriptions include - "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "E PLURBIS UNUM," and the Year of Mintage.

Each reverse depicts an eagle soaring in the sky with the sun rising, the inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" along with the denomination and purity.
