History:

After the enactment of the 1985 Gold Bullion Act by the US Government, The US Mint released the first American Eagle Gold Bullion coins in 1986. They are the modern legal tenders and come in four sizes 1 oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz, and 1/10 oz with a face value of $50, $25, $10, and $5 respectively. The US Mint guarantees its weight, content, and purity. 2005 marked the 20^th anniversary of the very popular American Eagle Gold coins. These coins are made from 22 Karat (.9167) fine gold.
