2001 Australia 21st Century Combination Bi-Metal 3-Coin Proof Set AGW .59 oz (w/Box & COA)

In 2001, the Perth Mint released an incredible 3-coin combination set commemorating both the new millennium and the 100th Anniversary of the Commonwealth of Australia’s official formation. Bullion Exchanges is proud to honor these milestones as we add the 2001 Australia 21st Century Combination Bi-Metal 3-Coin Proof Set to our catalog. This beautiful gold and silver set contains .59 ounces of .9999 fine gold and .999 pure silver, slit across three coins. This Perth Mint combination set comes in a wooden box accompanied by a COA with detailed descriptions of each coin.

The Centenary of Federation Floral Emblems Bi-Metal coin features a .9999 fine gold star-shaped centerpiece inside of a .999 fine silver border of floral emblems. The gold seven-pointed star centerpiece represents the six states, with the seventh point symbolizing the territories. In the center of the star, the Australian Coat of Arms displays over a background of golden wattles, Australia’s national flower. The Perth Mint “P” mintmark is etched inside a flower petal on the very bottom of the reverse. The obverse of this coin showcases Ian Rank-Broadley’s iconic profile design of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Holey Dollar & Dump coin set includes two .999 pure silver coins that fit together to form a single unit, with one star-shaped coin set in a hole in the middle of the other, circular coin. The middle star-shaped “dump” coin depicts a detailed rendering of Australia’s Federal Parliament House located in Australia’s capital, Canberra. The outer coin, the Holey Dollar, features the official badge of each Australian State as well as the badge for the Northern Territory. The obverse of both coins exhibits the IRB design of the Queen Elizabeth II effigy as well as inscriptions featuring “AUSTRALIA”, “ELIZABETH II”, and the denomination of each coin.

The ‘Gregorian Millenium’ Bi-Metal proof-like coin was created to commemorate the beginning of the Gregorian Calendar’s third millennium, which began in 2001. The border’s design comprises of .9999 fine gold and displays the inscription “Gregorian Millenium 2001”. The center’s design contains .999 pure silver and resembles a contemporary watch, with the hands indicating 8 am Western Australia Time. This marks the moment the new millennium officially began. In the middle of the silver coin, an observatory stands beneath the night sky, gorgeously highlighted in blue and purple. This design marks a contrast between the old method of timekeeping- using the stars and planets- and the new method- using watches and clocks. Similarly to the other two coins, the obverse of the Gregorian coin also showcases Queen Elizabeth II’s Ian Rank-Broadley effigy.
