This 2000 2 oz Gold Lunar Year of The Dragon is one piece of the Lunar Series I from the Perth Mint. The Perth Mint first issued the Lunar Series I coins in 1999, and the series immediately gained lots of popularity. The obverse features the well-known image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen's bust faces to the right wearing a beautiful crown. Inscriptions include: "ELIZABETH II," "AUSTRALIA," "200 DOLLARS," and the initials of the designer, Ian Rank-Broadley.

The reverse displays the image of a fierce dragon reaching for a Flaming Pearl, which symbolizes the Sacred Pearl of Wisdom. Other engravings on the reverse include the Chinese character for Dragon, the year of mintage, along with the weight and purity.
