This 1999 half ounce platinum American Eagle coin is .9995 platinum. The obverse features John Mercanti‘s design exhibiting a portrait of the Statue of Liberty gazing confidently forward, a symbol of freedom and opportunity. The reverse features an Eagle soaring close to the sun, with the inscription, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" at the top.
