This beautifully designed 1997 gold 10 Yuan Forbidden City proof coin is composed of 1/10 oz. of .999 pure gold. A rare piece for any collection, so you don't want to miss out on this coin.
The obverse features the Meridian Gate, the southern and largest gate, as well as the main gate, of the Forbidden City, with Chinese lettering above and the year of mintage below.
The reverse design displays the Lion Statue in front of the Gate of Heavenly Purity, which divides the Forbidden City into two parts, the Inner and Outer Courts, and thus serves as the main entrance to the imperial household. In front of the gate are two gilded bronze lions guarding it, one of which is shown on the coin. Inscribed to the right is the denomination.
