This $50 American Eagle gold coin was issued in 1996 and is graded by NGC as Mint State 69.
The American Eagle gold bullion coins contain 1 oz. of gold, and is an official gold bullion coin of the United States. First minted in 1986, the American Eagle is one of the most popular and sought after coins in the world.
On the obverse is the design made Augustus Saint-Gaudens of Lady Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, with the Capitol building in the left background. The sun’s rays also penetrate the coin. The reverse displays a "family of eagles" motif designed by sculptor Miley Busiek, featuring a male eagle, a female eagle, and her hatchlings.
