1990 1/4 oz China Proof Platinum Panda 25 Yuan NGC PF 68 UCAM
This rare, unique and beautifully designed 1990 Platinum 25 Yuan Panda is composed of 1/4 oz. of .9995 pure platinum, graded by NGC as a Proof 68 Ultra Cameo - Coin has a sharp strike with full original luster, with no more than four, lightly-scattered, contact marks or flaws. No hairlines or scuff marks show.
The 1990 25 Yuan 1/4 oz. Platinum Panda is the middle coin of the three fractional-sized Panda coins released in that year. It is the first 25 Yuan platinum Panda issued. Like the 1990 10 Yuan and 50 Yuan platinum coins the 25 Yuan has its own unique design.
The 1990 Panda coins keep the traditional reverse design that has been the hallmark of this great series, featuring the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, the title of the People's Republic of China, and the year of issuance below (1990). The obverse design features a Panda climbing a bamboo tree, with the denomination (25 Yuan) on the right and the left side has the purity (.999) and weight (1/4 oz. Pt).
These Pandas were originally offered either as single coins or as part of sets. One set contained a platinum, silver and gold Panda. The best-known grouping is a three-coin set enclosed in a red Capitol Plastics holder. The total mintage is 3,500 but some of these were melted along with other Chinese platinum coins during the 1990’s so the total population is under 3,500. The Capitol holders protected these coins well; most grade PF-69 with few graded below that. The 1990 25 Yuan 1/4 oz. platinum Panda is part of the NGC Registry set, “Platinum 1/4 Ounce Panda, 1990-1997, Mint State and Proof.”
Like all of our other platinum coins, this one is guaranteed to be 100% authentic. Item will be wrapped and packaged safe for delivery.
