1961 HK-587 Mobile Alabama Silver So-Called Dollar NGC MS 65

This 1961 HK-587 Mobile Alabama Silver So-Called Dollar NGC MS 65 is an excellent addition to any collection. This medal is graded by NGC as Mint State 65.

This product is what numismatists and collectors refer to as a So-Called Dollar. Credited to coin collector Thomas Elder, “So-Called Dollars” is the name given to tokens and medals that appear relatively similar in size to the US silver dollar. Struck by the US Mint in addition to private manufacturers, there are two types of So-Called Dollars. The first are those that commemorate an exposition and the second, are those affiliated with major historical events. The award, military, and religious medals are among those not classified as So-Called Dollars. Collectors are drawn to So-Called Dollars due to their size, unique designs, and rarity.

The obverse features Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville along with the year of mintage.

The reverse displays the Seal of the 250th Anniversary.
