The coin is certified by NGC as Mint State 62 and is made from 90% fine gold with a weight of 0.1209 troy oz. Most examples of this date are well struck and are among the better-produced coins for this series.
The obverse features the left profile of a Native American man wearing his traditional headdress. Inscriptions include "LIBERTY" and the year of mintage. The reverse displays a proud American eagle clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch along with the denomination.
