1926 $2.5 Quarter Eagle Indian Head Gold Coin NGC MS 63
This beautiful 1926 Quarter Eagle Indian Head Gold coin is certified by NGC as Mint State 63 - mint luster may be slightly impaired.
This 1926 $2.5 Indian head, quarter eagle gold dollar coin was designed by Bela Lyon Pratt, a Boston sculptor. These $2.5 Gold Indian head, Quarter Eagles were minted between 1908-1929. This new type represents a departure from all precedents in United States coinage. Its design features no raised edge, and the main devices and legends are in sunken relief below the surface of the coin.
Among the public, there was some concern that the recessed design of Pratt's quarter eagle would collect germs - an unfounded fear. The artistry of the design was condemned loudly by some numismatists. Few people were interested in saving the coin for their collections. The result is a series with relatively few examples surviving in higher grades. Any initial disfavor has mellowed with time; today Pratt's design is recognized as part of the early 20th-century renaissance of American coinage. The coin contains .12094 troy ounces of gold and is struck in 90% fine gold.
Like all of our other gold coins, this one is guaranteed to be 100% authentic. Item will be wrapped and packaged safe for delivery.
