1922 $10 Gold Certificate Currency Note Speelman White PCGS VF 20
The 1922 $10 Gold Certificate is a historic piece of US currency that was originally issued when paper money could be exchanged for gold coins or bullion. The note features a portrait of Michael Hillegas, the first Treasurer of the United States, on the obverse (front), and a vignette of an eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch on the reverse (back).
This particular note has been graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) as VF 20, which stands for "Very Fine 20."
The note was designed by artists G.F.C. Smillie and R.E. Miser and printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C. The signatures of Speelman and White, the Register of the Treasury, and the Treasurer of the United States at the time, respectively, can be seen on the note.
