1921-D Morgan Silver Dollar $1 NGC MS 62

The 1921-D Morgan Silver Dollar $1 NGC MS 62, available at Bullion Exchanges, is a graded Mint State example of one of America’s most iconic silver dollars. Containing .900 silve, this coin holds 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver with a total weight of 26.73 grams.

The Morgan Silver Dollar was first issued in 1878, following the passage of the Bland-Allison Act, which required the U.S. Treasury to purchase and coin large amounts of silver. Production continued until 1904, when silver supplies ran low, and was revived in 1921 for a final year before being replaced by the Peace Dollar. The 1921 issue is notable for being the only year struck at the Denver Mint, making the 1921-D variety historically significant.

The Denver Mint, established in 1906, was originally built to process gold and silver from Colorado’s prolific mines. Its “D” mintmark quickly became recognized on circulating U.S. coinage. By 1921, it was tasked with striking Morgan Dollars for the first and only time, creating a unique one-year variety: the 1921-D Morgan Silver Dollar. Today, coins from the Denver Mint are prized for their strong strikes and historic role in America’s coinage.
