The obverse features the left profile image of a Native American man, wearing his traditional headdress. The design is is encircled by thirteen stars along with the phrase "LIBERTY" and the year of mintage.

The reverse displays an American Eagle looking towards the future, its talons holding a bundle of arrows and an olive branch. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and the denomination.

At the tip of the arrow, you can see the "D" indicating the Denver Mint.
