This 1909 $2.5 Indian Head Quarter Eagle Gold Coin is graded AU 58 by NGC. The $2.5 Indian Heads have the unique distinction of being just one of two types of U.S. coins that feature an incuse design.
The obverse displays a leftward facing portrait of a male Native American wearing a headdress in the center. Encircling the rim are 13 stars, representing the 13 original colonies, along with the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and the year of mintage.
The reverse features a prideful bald eagle perched on a bundle of arrows and gripping an olive branch in its talon. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and "IN GOD WE TRUST". The denomination is located under the bald eagle.
