1878 Silver Morgan Dollar 7 Tail Feathers Rev of 78 NGC MS 63
This 1878 Silver Morgan Dollar 7 Tail Feathers Coin uses the 1878 reverse design. There are two major variations of the reverse design. The other is the 1879 reverse design, updated the look of the eagle and the shape of one of the feathers on the coin.
The obverse features Lady Liberty facing left, wearing a crown with her hair falling loosely around her neck. Inscriptions include "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "LIBERTY" on the crown, and the year of mintage.
The reverse depicts a heraldic eagle clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The eagle has 7 tail feathers, hence the name of the coin. The breast of the eagle is concave. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the denomination.
