1856 $3 Gold Indian Princess Head PCGS XF 45 (Rattler Holder)

This 1856 $3 Gold Indian Princess Head Coin is graded XF 45 by PCGS and comes in a Rattler holder. This holder is the earliest iteration of coin holder released by PCGS and was nicknamed the “rattler" because the coin sat loosely in the plastic holder and would move or "rattle" if shaken.

The obverse features a bust of Lady Liberty on her left side wearing a native headdress. Inscribed above is "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."

The reverse shows the denomination and year of mintage encircled by the laurel wreath.
