This 1838 D $5 Classic Head Half Eagle Gold Coin NGC AU Details is an excellent addition to any collection. This rare coin comes produced from the Dahlonega Mint, which is no longer in operation.

The obverse features a left-sided bust of Lady Liberty encircled by 13 stars and the mint mark "D" below. The phrase "LIBERTY" can be seen on her hairband and the year of mintage is below.

The reverse side shows a bald eagle with a patriotic shield on its chest and its wings spread open. In its talons are a bundle of arrows and an olive branch. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the denomination.
