This unique and beautiful 1834 $5 Gold Classic Head Half Eagle No Motto Plain 4 NGC XF Details does not have the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" inscribed, and is in a reduced size to differentiate the older coins that became worth more than their face value.
The Obverse features Lady Liberty with long, curly hair facing to the left, her loose curls cascading down her neck, and wearing a coronet with the word "LIBERTY" inscribed on it. 13 stars encircle her, with the date of the coin positioned below her profile.
Designed by William Kneass and with a composition of .8992 fine gold, this high grade coin is an instrumental acquisition for the savvy collector.
The Reverse side features a bald eagle, wings outstretched with a shield across its chest, carrying an olive branch and a bundle of arrows in each of its talons. The coin is inscribed with the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and "5 D." Classic Head Half Eagles were minted in one variation in Philadelphia (without a mintmark), Charlotte, North Carolina (“C”), and Dahlonega, Georgia (“D”).
