This 1294-1320 AD Byzantine Empire Andronicus II & Michael IX Silver Basilicon NGC Ch XF will make a great addition to any collection. The Silver Basilicon was struck before 1304 by Emperor Andronikos II Palaiologos, as a direct imitation of the Venetian Silver Ducat or Grosso.

The obverse features Christ seated on a backless throne. His right hand is inside his cloak while his left hand is on the book of Gospels.

The reverse displays a bearded Andronicus II on the right and Michael IX on the left, both facing and holding a patriarchal cross between them.
