The Aztec calendar is a complex time tracking system that was developed by the Aztec people and used throughout ancient Mesoamerica. The Aztec Empire was an alliance of three city-states that included Mexico-Tenochtitlan, Texcoco, and Tlacopan. This empire existed from 1428 until 1521, until Spanish conquistadors arrived and wiped out much of their civilization. The design of this 10 oz Silver Aztec Calendar Bar is created to commemorate Aztec’s impressive civilization.

• Obverse: Features a depiction of the famous Aztec Sun Calendar Stone. The design is an ornate circular shape resembling a sun, with intricate Aztec drawing resembling rays of the sun layered around the center. In the center of the circle is the face of Tonatiuh, the Aztec solar deity.
• Reverse: Displays a compelling portrait of the last Aztec Emperor of Tenochtitlan, Cuauhtemoc. The name Cuauhtemoc translates to "Descending Eagle," which refers to the moment during the hunt when an eagle spots its prey and folds its wings into its body, plummeting down towards its victim. Cuauhtemoc is adorned with a traditional Aztec headdress and wears large earrings commonly worn by the Aztec elite.  A simple Aztec border surrounds the ruler. Inscriptions include the emperor’s name, as well as the weight and purity of the bar.
