The US Mint honors those who fought valiantly for our country with the release of the 1 oz End of WWII 75th Anniversary Proof Silver Medal. This special issue occurs on the 75th Anniversary of the end of WWII, one of the deadliest conflicts in history. This marvelous medal weighs 1 troy ounce and contains .999 fine silver. Adding to its collector appeal, this medal has been graded a perfect PF 70 FS by PCGS. The First Strike designation denotes this medal was purchased within the first 30 days of the initial release. The Philadelphia branch of the US Mint only released a maximum mintage of 20,000 medals, so interested buyers should act fast before they sell out for good.

Inspired by the 1945 version of the Great Seal of the United States, the obverse of the medal features a Bald Eagle clutching an olive branch in its right talon. The Eagle, shown in mid-flight, inspires pride and hope in a better future with its fierce and intense gaze looking ahead. Inscriptions include “World War II”, “1945”, and “LIBERTY”. The initials of the designer and engraver are also included. 

The reverse of the medal shows a bright gleaming sun shining down from the sky onto hanging olive branches. This design reflects and transforms the sun element from the 1945 WWII Victory medal, which featured a sun just beginning to rise from behind the standing figure of Liberation. The phrase “75th Anniversary” is inscribed on the reverse. The initials of the designer and engraver are also shown as well.
