On the 75th Anniversary of WWII’s end, the US Mint commemorates the efforts of those who valiantly served our country with the release of the 1 oz End of WWII 75th Anniversary Proof Silver Medal. This gorgeous medal weighs 1 troy ounce and contains .999 fine silver. Enhancing its appeal, NGC has graded this medal an almost-perfect PF 69 ER. The Early Releases designation indicates this medal was purchased within the first 30 days of the initial release. The Philadelphia branch of the US Mint only produced a maximum of 20,000 medals total, so be sure to get one today before these medals sell out for good! 

The obverse of the medal, inspired by the 1945 version of the Great Seal of the United States, features a Bald Eagle clutching an olive branch in its right talon. Shown in mid-flight, the eagle’s fierce gaze inspires pride and hope in a better future. Inscriptions include “World War II”, “1945”, and “LIBERTY”. The initials of the designer and engraver are also included. 

The reverse of the medal shows a shining sun gleaming down from the sky onto hanging olive branches. This design reflects and transforms the sun element from the 1945 WWII Victory medal, which displayed the sun just beginning to rise. The phrase “75th Anniversary” is inscribed on the reverse. The initials of the designer and engraver are also shown as well.
