This historic gold coin, struck in .900 fine gold, represents the final design in the U.S. $1 Gold series. Designed by James B. Longacre, the Type 3 Gold Dollar features a striking depiction of Lady Liberty in a Native American-inspired headdress, symbolizing the nation’s westward expansion. These Almost Uncirculated (AU) specimens exhibit only minimal wear, retaining much of their original luster, making them a sought-after addition to any numismatic collection.

The Type 3 Gold Dollar was introduced in 1856, replacing the short-lived Type 2 design, which suffered from weak strikes and excessive wear.
