Newport Beach is a coastal city in the State of California. Before the European settlers made their way into California, the Newport Beach area was a prominent Native Indian inhabitation. The place started to rapidly develop when a successful voyage was performed by Captain Samuel S. Dunnells who steered a 105-ton steamer named “The Vaquero” safely to the Newport Harbor in 1870.
