Cleopatra 2 oz Ultra High Relief Silver Round .999 Fine
Bullion Exchanges is pleased to offer Elemetal Mints Cleopatra 2 oz Ultra High Relief Silver Round. Each round is composed of two troy ounces of .999 fine silver.
On August 12, 30 B.C., the Egyptian queen Cleopatra took her own life inside a mausoleum in Alexandria. In the course of more than two decades as Egypt’s last independent pharaoh, Cleopatra engaged in ruthless power struggles with her siblings, battled the future Roman emperor and engaged in military alliances—and passionate affairs—with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. She’s remembered as one of the most brilliant and alluring figures of antiquity, yet many of the details of the Queen of the Nile’s life are either unknown or clouded by myth.
The depths of relief on this ravishing 2 oz silver round are subtle yet they give Cleopatra a life like appearance high lightening her striking beauty. Artist Heidi Wastweet spearheaded an innovative approach to incorporate impressed and raised components to the Eye of Horus featured on the obverse side of the Cleopatra 2 oz Ultra High Relief Silver Round, a technique which has never been attempted.
Cleopatra is seductively draped across the obverse side of the Cleopatra 2 oz Ultra High Relief Silver Round. To the right side of the Egyptian Queen is a cartouche of her name, with a horizontal line at the bottom of the cartouche demonstrating her royal status. To the left of Cleopatra is the Eye of Horus. Completing the obverse side design is a bowl of figs, said to have been used to smuggle in the poisonous snake which was used to kill the Egyptian Queen. The infamous snake which led to Cleopatra’s demise is featured slithering down her left shoulder.
Unmistakably featured as the focal point of the reverse side is the Goddess Isis, with the scarab beetle directly beneath her. The scarab beetle was regarded as an extraordinary force in antiquated Egyptian mythology. The Hieroglyphics featured on the reverse side were ancient papyri written about the Queen of the Nile. The rounds metal weight and purity are located on the lower field of the reverse side, and are surrounded by a pattern found of the outer wall of the Temple of Horus. The arrangement is mirrored after a bed of lotus reeds blooming in the river Nile.
