On the reverse, this coin highlights a kookaburra rested on a roof at sunrise with stylized rays of light shooting out from behind its back. Inscriptions include "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA 30TH ANNIVERSARY," the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, and the weight and purity.

The obverse of each 2020 kookaburra silver coin displays a replica of the 1990 Kookaburra Silver Coin Design, which portrays the native bird on a tree stump and native foliage.
