It grasps a banner reading “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak, while its talons hold olive branches and arrows. 13 stars representing the 13 colonies fly over the eagle’s head, while inscriptions showing the coin’s weight, purity, denomination, and country of origin encircle the rim.
