1998 1/10 oz Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coin 200 Schilling Uncirculated
This Austrian gold coin contains 1/10 troy ounces of .9999 pure gold, and comes in a beautiful plastic assay card. The front of the casing contains a picture of a grand castle in Austria, with the beloved Alps in the background. The back of the casing contains information about the coin. The Gold Philharmonic coins are among the most popular and most sought-after gold coins available. The schilling was the official currency of Austria until 1999, when the Euro took over.
The 200 Schilling gold piece, first struck at the Vienna Mint in 1991, honors the world-famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, consistently ranked as on of the finest orchestras in Europe. On the obverse of these coins is the Great Organ of the Golden Hall from Musikverein, Vienna’s concert hall, along with the year, weight, and purity of the coin.
The Golden Hall was not built for acoustics of today and is tall, long, and narrow. It can contain approximately 2000 people, seating over 1,700 people and 300 for standing individuals. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is considered to be very prestigious, and it can take at least three years for potential members to prove themselves, making this a symbolic coin of cultural and musical proportions.
The reverse side of the coin is minted with the name of the orchestra and features a fanned group of instruments, including a string bass, cellos, violins, a bassoon, harp and Viennese horn, illustrating Austria's rich musical and cultural heritage.
Like all of our other gold coins, this one is guaranteed to be 100% authentic. Item will be wrapped and packaged safe for delivery.
