The 1918 $2 Federal Reserve Currency Note is a historic piece of US currency that was issued by the newly created Federal Reserve System, which was established in response to the financial panics and bank failures of the early 20th century. The note features a portrait of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States, on the obverse (front), and a vignette of the New York-class battleship USS New York on the reverse (back).
This particular note was issued by the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank and has been graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) as F 12, which stands for "Fine 12."
The note was designed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C., and features the signatures of W.G. McAdoo, the Secretary of the Treasury, and William P.G. Harding, the Governor of the Federal Reserve Board, at the time.
