1907 $10 Gold Certificate Currency Note Teehee Burke PCGS VF 20
The 1907 $10 Gold Certificate is a historic piece of US currency that was issued when paper money could be exchanged for gold coins or bullion. The note features a portrait of Michael Hillegas, the first Treasurer of the United States, on the obverse (front), and a vignette of an eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch on the reverse (back).
This particular note was signed by Vernon-McClung, Teehee-Burke, and Napier-Thompson, who served as the Treasurer of the United States, Register of the Treasury, and the Chief of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, respectively. It has been graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) as VF 20, which stands for "Very Fine 20."
The note was designed by artists G.F.C. Smillie and R.E. Miser and printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C. The signature of Teehee-Burke is particularly noteworthy, as she was one of the first women to hold a high-ranking position in the US Treasury Department.
