Fairfax is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The farmers from Virginia’s Tidewater region settled down in Fairfax in the early 1700s, and the community was named in honor of one of the early landlords, Thomas Lord Fairfax. Richard Ratcliffe was the founder of the town of Fairfax. It became an independent city only in 1961 and was given the name City of Fairfax. There are a few attractions in Fairfax like the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center, Historic Blenheim, Lake Accotink, Ox Hill Battlefield Park, Kamp Washington Shopping Center, etc.
