Florence is a city in Kentucky that was known by different names at different times. It was first known as 'Crossroads' for the convergence of several roads from Burlington and Union at Ridge Road. By 1821, it was also known as 'Maddentown' for Thomas Madden, a Covington attorney. Then in 1828, it was called as 'Connersville' for Jacob Conner, a settler who took over the responsibility for the growing town. As there was another Connersville in Harrison County, the town was finally named Florence, and it seems that it comes from Florence, Italy. Florence was incorporated in 1830. The main attractions of Florence are the Florence Nature Park, Stringtown Park, Sherlock’s Escape Rooms, Boone County Veterans Memorial Park, etc.
