$2.5 Gold Quarter Eagle Indian Head - Ex Jewelry (Random Year)

The $2.5 Gold Quarter Eagle Indian Head is a landmark in the coinage history of America. Due to rarity, age, and historical value, these coins have a great investment and collectible appeal, even in Ex Jewelry condition. The US Mint struck the Quarter Eagle gold coins back in the early 1900s with 3.76 grams of .900 fine gold balanced with copper. The year of the coin will be based randomly on our inventory since these coins were minted irregularly for over two decades. Pre-1933 gold coins are often popular among numismatic enthusiasts, so be sure to grab this $2.5 Gold Quarter Eagle Indian Head - Ex Jewelry (Random Year) for yourself or your favorite collector!

These Indian Head Eagles, also known as the Quarter Eagle gold coin, were struck from 1908 through 1915, then the production was suspended for a decade. Again the coins were struck from 1925 to 1929. Although this was a short-lived series, it has gained popularity among numismatists for its novelty minting process. This coin is distinctive because it has an incused or “sunken” design instead of being raised above the coin’s surface. This is just one of two US Mint coins that share a similar minting process in the entire coinage history, the only other incuse coin is the $5 Gold Half Eagle Indian Head. This is one of the smallest series with just 15 different date and mint combinations. Its rarity, age, and historical significance with a great track record on price performance have made it a sought-after coin by investors and collectors alike.

The obverse of the Quarter Eagle gold coin was created by Bela Lyon Pratt. He rendered a detailed image of a Native American man wearing a headdress. This subject is encircled by the year of mintage, thirteen stars, and the motto “LIBERTY.”

On the reverse, an American bald eagle perches on a bunch of arrows while holding an olive branch in his talons symbolizing preparedness and peace.
