This coin’s obverse displays Adolph A. Weinman’s classic Walking Liberty design. First printed on the American Silver half dollar starting in 1916, this design shows Lady Liberty marching in front of a rising sun. She stretches her right arm towards its stylized rays as the American flag billows behind her. She also carries oak and olive branches in her left arm, to symbolize peace and stability. Inscriptions of the issue year, “IN GOD WE TRUST”, and “LIBERTY” join her around the rim.

Meanwhile, the coin’s reverse features John Mercanti’s updated United States national coat of arms. This classic icon shows a bald eagle showing off its wingspan behind a shield decorated like the American flag. It carries a bundle of arrows in its left talon and a bunch of olive branches in its right talon. Its beak grasps a banner reading “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, while 13 stars representing the original 13 colonies shine over its head. The weight, denomination, purity, and country’s name are inscribed around the rim.
