Roll of 20 - 1 oz Hercules Eleventh Labor - Apples of Hesperides Copper Round

Bullion Exchanges offers Roll of 20 - 1 oz Hercules Eleventh Labor - Apples of Hesperides Copper Round. The coin is the eleventh release from the 12 Labors of Hercules series by Provident Mint.

Hercules, the legendary Greek hero to repent for his brutal task of killing his wife and children when under the influence of Queen of the Gods, Hera, who made him go mad goes to his cousin King Eurystheus as per the suggestion of Pythia, the Oracle of Delphi. Although Eurystheus being much lower in caliber being a mortal than that of Hercules who was a Demigod, he agreed to serve him as a penance for his gory deeds. His eleventh labor was to steal the apples of Hesperides. He sets out to find the garden but struggles to find it, until he comes across a shape-shifting sea god, Nereus, who after struggling hard to escape from the clutches of Hercules by shifting his shape, at last, gives in and tell the exact location.

On the way Hercules meets several adventures and fights many mythological characters until he comes across Prometheus who is punished by Zeus and is tied to a mountain, Hercules rescues him and Prometheus tells him of a clever plan to get hold of the apples. He suggests that Hercules offers Atlas to borrow his burden of holding up the earth and sky for some time in exchange for the golden apples.

Atlas who hated to hold up the burden readily agreed. When he got back the golden apples, he refused to take back the burden from Hercules, and therefore Hercules had to use trickery to give back the earth and sky to Atlas and then took the apples and went back to Eurystheus to finish his eleventh task by submitting the apples.
