Why Buy Silver Bars?

For collectors who like to buy silver bars, what advantages do silver bars offer investors? Why not just save up for gold or buy silver coins? Aside from the fact that silver is more affordable than gold for many, some people prefer to stock up a large inventory of silver bars. Why? Silver can be a more practical option when you want to sell or protect yourself against inflation. It can be more liquid than gold, especially because it is available in many different denominations. Plus, silver bars tend to carry lower premiums over spot than silver coins.

The silver market is also small, and governments don’t tend to stockpile precious metals anymore. If there is ever a time the government needs access to massive amounts of silver, the demand will skyrocket and send the price soaring. In fact, people are suggesting that the price of silver may do just that if Joe Biden is elected President for 2021. This is because of his environmentally-friendly plans, which will most likely increase the demand for silver for industrial usage. Silver offers great benefits in the industrial world because it is the most electrically and thermally conductive, and the most reflective. Also, because studies from the Silver Institute show the silver supply is falling, this precious metal might not be able to match its demand. Therefore, there is so much room to grow in the silver market, so why not buy silver bars!

Buy Silver Bars, But What Size?

10 oz and 100 oz silver bars tend to be the most preferred sizes for silver bars. Silver bars differ from silver coins because they are mostly an industrial product. Seasoned investors buy silver bars because they are ideal for storage, more cost-effective to build up a strong silver hedge, and they are highly liquid.

Silver bars are more of an investment rather than a potential bartering tool. They are also easy to store because a 10 oz silver bar is about the size of a deck of cards. A 100 oz silver bar, however, is more often referred to as an investment bar. This is because these are favored more by those who are investing in silver as opposed to those building a hedge against inflation.

At the end of the day, which size of silver bar you buy should depend on your purpose for investing. Similar to stocks, buying all of one kind is not a great idea because each investment offers different benefits. Buying 1 oz silver bars can be good if you ever need to sell quickly in small increments. But buying all 1 oz sizes might prove to be difficult to store. Just think about having 100 1 oz silver bars as opposed to a single 100 oz silver bar! But, having variety can only benefit your portfolio, so keep that in mind when you make a plan to invest. The same thing can be said for those who buy silver bars from only one company: variety can make or break your collection.

The Major Names in the Silver (and Gold!) Bar Industry

Some of the most prominent names in for silver bars to look for include Credit Suisse, Royal Canadian Mint (RCM), Engelhard & Johnson Matthey, Asahi, PAMP Suisse, and the Istanbul Gold Refinery—to name a few. Buying any of these names will offer you greater liquidity because their silver bars are among the most known in the world. Buying different names is also important because one bar over another might be rarer. For example, the Engelhard & Johnson Matthey silver bars are highly rare on the market. This is because they have not been produced since the 1980s, whereas the RCM silver bars are valued more for their prestige since they are produced from a sovereign mint. Every silver bar has its own advantages over others, so it is good to know what you’re buying and for what purpose to narrow down your options.

Buy Silver Bars – What’s New in Stock?

Three of our newest products include the 10 oz Nadir Refinery Silver Bar, 10 oz Istanbul Gold Refinery IGR Silver Bar, and 100 oz Nadir Refinery Silver Bar. These two refineries are based in Turkey and are highly coveted because of their high quality.

The Istanbul Gold Refinery opened in 1996, and it quickly became a popular mint recognized internationally due to the fact that they strive for perfection and excellence. Since 2011, it has been on the LMBA’s list of Good Delivery accreditation. The company proudly boasts clearing the LMBA test within one year, which is quite the achievement. Additionally, COMEX has also granted IGR with Good Delivery Refinery Status. IGR is particularly famous for being the first refiner in Turkey to produce gold products with a high purity of .9999

The Nadir Metal Refinery began in 1967 in a modest jewelry recycling workshop by Nadir Tütüncü. By 1975, Tütüncü began precious metals refining. High demand eventually led this company to become a full refinery that achieved accreditation in 2001, then a few years later grew into a joint-stock company under its current name. The Istanbul Gold Exchange, Dubai Stock Exchange, and LBMA recognize the Nadir Metal Refinery. In addition to refining, recycling, and laboratory operations, the Nadir Metal Refinery also strikes bullion from most precious metals. This includes gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and rhodium
