Star Wars Collection

Star Wars is among the highest-grossing movie franchises of all time, ranking alongside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Harry Potter, James Bond, and Lord of the Rings franchises. This series has left a profound mark on American pop culture and the world of science fiction/fantasy. This is a story where the Jedi (good guys) and the Sith (bad guys) constantly battle for control in the galaxy. First, George Lucas began this franchise as novels, then directed them as films, and then he sold it to Disney in 2012.

This coin series began in 2011, thirty-four years after the debut of Star Wars: Episode IV, the first chronological film. These coins showcase the many popular characters born from this franchise in gold and silver. Add these out-of-this-world coins to your collection to celebrate one of the most successful film series in modern cinema.

Boba Fett: Bounty Hunter

Warning! Spoilers lie ahead.

Boba Fett is one of the most feared and respected bounty hunters in the galaxy. He is the son of Jango Fett, and he watched Jedi Master Mace Windu kill his father. After witnessing the beheading of his father, Boba Fett established a life-long hatred of the Jedi. Orphaned, he continued his father’s legacy by starting a gang of bounty hunters as a child.

After failing to avenge his father, Boba Fett became a mercenary. Because of his complicated past with the Jedi, he was often employed by the Sith. He successfully tracked down the Millenium Falcon during the Galactic Civil War for Sith Lord, Darth Vader. Darth Vader allowed him to sell Captain Han Solo to the gangster Jabba the Hutt. When the Alliance to Restore the Republic attempted to rescue Solo, Solo accidentally launched Fett into the man-eating Sarlaac pit by banging Fett’s jet pack with a pole. As far as fans know, Boba Fett was killed in this pit. However, there has yet to be any official confirmation about his whereabouts. This Boba Fett coin is the newest of the Star Wars coin series.

New Zealand Mint and Niue

The New Zealand mint strikes on behalf of the island of Niue. Niue is in free association with New Zealand as a self-governing state. This small island is known as the ‘Rock of Polynesia,’ and it is translated as ‘to behold the coconut.’

The New Zealand Mint is the only privately owned mint in New Zealand that purchases refined precious metals to strike coins. Its coins are not legal tender in New Zealand, but it is one of the first mints to use the .9999 gold purity standard.
