2021 Avro Arrow Proof Silver Coins

The Avro Arrow Proof Silver Coins are a poignant example of Canada’s inventive passion.  These Canadian commemorative coins feature designs celebrating the creation of the Avro CF-105 Arrow supersonic jet. Struck with .9999 fine silver, both the 1 troy oz silver coin and 5 ozt silver coin with gold plating showcase two designs of the Avro Arrow. The smaller coin displays a blueprint-style design, whereas the larger coin spotlights a flying jet with its shadow as the national icon of Canada: the Maple Leaf.

As a Canadian invention, these planes were inspired by the British warplanes from WWII. Although it was unveiled a decade after the end of WWII, the Avro CF-105 Arrow is hailed as the most advanced military intercepter design from the 1950s. To compare this design to today, the plane was slightly longer and wider than today’s Eurofighter Typhoon. However, the jet could fly close to Mach 2.0, an incredible achievement at the time.  Although the project was scrapped in 1959, its legacy continues to inspire admiration and awe. The supersonic jet gave Canada the reputation as a leader in aviation engineering in that decade.

Because of this design honoring the Canadian invention, these coins are wonderful gifts for any military veteran, plane enthusiast, or engineer. So, pick them up today!
