What is a Goldback?

The Goldbacks are a new product line that debuted in 2020. Because of its widespread popularity, the Goldback company now continues to create Goldbacks for the state of New Hampshire. We are thrilled to announce that now, we will offer Utah, Nevada, and New Hampshire Goldbacks in our inventory.

Bullion Exchanges reminds you that the Goldbacks are not simply paper notes backed by gold. Actually, Goldbacks are made with real gold. This is what the Goldback Company refers to as a “voluntary complementary currency.” Dr. Mark Voelker of the United Precious Metals Association (UPMA) says that this currency is the solution to a problem that persisted over two thousand years. Now, gold can be used in small denominations for monetary exchange as opposed to paying in the weight of gold. This varies by state, so if you intend to use Goldbacks to buy goods or services, make sure you are in a state and doing business with merchants who accept Goldbacks.

The Goldback Company

You might be wondering how Goldbacks are legal currency in the US. To answer your question, the Goldbacks achieved legal status through the Utah Legal Tender Act of 2011. Lawrence Hilton specifically created and advocated for this act in Utah. He is also the General Counsel for the company. Through the passage of this act in Utah, certain gold and silver coins can be used legally for commerce. So, the Goldback might appear to look like a note, but it is technically a coin under this act. You’ll also find the word “coin” on the Goldback itself!

Jeremy Cordon and Chris Jensen, the founders of the Goldback, set out to create the Goldbacks based on a dream Cordon had. Consequently, their goal formed into creating a solution for everyday people who wish to escape the havoc that inflation wreaks on their money. One day, Cordon and Jensen hope the Goldbacks can be used for major investments in addition to small purchases. This includes buying a house with Goldbacks.

Jensen and Cordon manufactured the Goldbacks with Valaurum, who was excited to take on the challenge of producing minuscule gold after it was pitched to them in its early stages. However, the real challenge came after successfully producing the Goldbacks because then it had to be accepted by the UPMA. The last other product UPMA previously accepted was the Minted 2015 American Silver Eagles. Following that coin was a significant undertaking. Despite some mild traction, a majority of the UPMA board approved the Goldbacks. After that, other states similarly began to allow Goldbacks such as Nevada and New Hampshire.

Who Might Like the Goldbacks?

The Utah, Nevada, and New Hampshire Goldbacks are a world-first form of gold “paper” currency that can be used as legal tender. Because the Goldbacks were made with the intention to provide an alternative currency to the US Dollar, they are easy to store and visually stunning. On top of that, they are the beginning of an alternative currency in certain states. The Goldbacks offer a unique investment opportunity because they trade against the dollar, even as a form of currency! This is owing to the fact that they carry their own intrinsic value since they are made of real gold. These notes are, therefore, not a representation of gold ownership because they are literally gold. Inflation subsequently does not harm the value of the Goldbacks.

Why else would any investor enjoy the Goldbacks? One benefit is that they are much more affordable for a wider range of people since they are not like gold coins. Minting Goldbacks is even less expensive than many fractional gold coins. Those who are on an especially tight budget can certainly invest in Goldbacks and enjoy the benefits of gold ownership. Whether you want to use it in the states where it is legal for purchases or simply collect them all, the Goldbacks are an excellent product for anyone who likes to buy gold.

Gold coins can be a great investment option, but not everyone is able to afford them or store gold coins. With such intricate designs, gold coins can be difficult to buy and store. Therefore, the Utah Goldbacks can be an alternative since they are significantly smaller denominations. Since they carry a lesser face value that agrees with its gold content, the Goldbacks are more effective for everyday commerce. Plus, you do not have to forgo beauty when you buy Goldbacks since these come with remarkable designs that vary by state and denomination. If there comes a day when fiat currency is no longer valued, the Goldbacks might serve as a model for an alternative physical cash system.

The Virtuous Design

Every Goldback denomination is produced in different sizes to agree with the face value. This is a further modification that makes the Goldbacks much more accessible for the visually impaired.

You might have noticed that Goldbacks sport only women mascots. Every woman featured is a symbolized image of the Virtues. These representations vary by state, but each rendition is a modernized version of the Virtues. Each woman is adorned with apparel popular throughout the history of Utah, Nevada, and now, New Hampshire.

Furthermore, every tree and animal that appears on the Goldbacks are native to the state depending on the program. Take a journey through the states with the incredible Goldbacks!

Newest Release: New Hampshire Goldbacks

After witnessing the success of the Utah and Nevada Goldbacks, New Hampshire also legalized the Goldbacks for use as a “volunteer currency.” Businesses can elect to accept the Goldbacks in exchange for everyday commerce. The New Hampshire Goldbacks were originally set to release in 2020, however, massive demand for the Nevada and Utah Goldbacks pushed back the issuance of this third program. Now you can enjoy the long-awaited release of the New Hampshire Goldbacks. The Virtues featured in this new collection are Gratia – Gratitude (1), Veritas – Truth (5), Prospicientia – Prosperity (10), Fortitudine – Fortune (25), and Libertas – Liberty (50).
