American Eagle Series is a long-running program, which began in 1986 with the release of Gold and Silver American Eagles. What makes this 2020-W1 oz Proof Silver American Eagle special is the privy mark, which adds to its collectibility. The outline of the V75 privy mark mirrors the shape of the Rainbow Pool, the World War II Memorial located in Washington, DC. The letter V stands for ‘Victory’ and the number 75 represents the 75th Anniversary of the end of WWII.
The obverse of the 2020-W V75 Privy 1 oz Proof Silver American Eagle features Adolph A. Weinman’s ‘Walking Liberty’ illustration that first graced the 1916 American silver half dollars. In this image, Lady Liberty steps to the coin’s left as she stretches her arm out towards the rising sun. The American flag gently flaps behind her. She also holds a bounty of olive and oak branches in her left arm. The word “LIBERTY” is inscribed along the rim of the coin, along with the year of issue, the phrase “IN GOD WE TRUST”, and the special V75 privy mark.
The coin’s reverse displays the US National Coat of Arms by John Mercanti. A bald eagle stretches its wings and holds both a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. A banner is clutched in its beak, and it reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM”. On its chest is a shield emblazoned with the US flag. 13 stars shine above the eagle’s head, representing the 13 colonies. The weight, purity, denomination, and country’s name are inscribed around the rim.
